About Me

hi guys, my name is emily joy!

my favorite things in the whole world are jesus, beautiful people, sunshine, books, writing, boba and sweet potato fries, oh and i’m a sucker for dessert and grocery shopping, the list could go on and on… I really do find so much joy in the simplest things, and I view this as part of my ministry, seeing every circumstance as a reason to smile and praise the Lord. I am a young wifey, my husband Alex, and I were married at 19 and 20 (like any good youth group couple hahah), in july 2021, and we live happily in Dallas!

I would definitely describe myself as a perfectionist, as in, this may or may not be the fifth time writing this… I like to think that I float somewhere between creative and analytical most of the time, which can be described as a blessing and a curse. My heart is so full when I lean into that creativity: writing, editing, creating, and designing to name a few. I fell in love with creating in a digital world in middle school. In eight grade I worked my butt off all year to save up for a DSLR camera. Once I saved up enough, that thing did not leave my hands all summer long and for many years to come. I spent every waking hour photographing my little life, from the fallen petals scattered across the sidewalk to the looks of joy on my young nieces’ faces on christmas morning. My all time favorite however, was editing; I was swept up into a world where I had complete control of the outcome of my work, I was ecstatic. It was out of that excitement that I started creating digital content, my blog was born on those longer summer days, as well as my sorry attempt for a youtube channel. All of that to say, the desire to create has followed me all these years, and has led to this, and I am so incredibly grateful. Sometimes (well most the time), I feel completely unqualified to write and share my life with the world, but time and time again the Lord reminds me that He is the one who put me here and He has equipped me with everything I need, even on those days when I feel negative creative juices flowing through my brain.

I am passionate about sharing my love of Jesus and a fulfilling life within the words and posts of this blog. I feel led to share the joys of life and the beauty that I see all around me. My hope is that Honey becomes a gathering place for people to feel loved and encouraged and seen, a place for us to learn and grow together. I’m so happy you’re here, I hope you stick around!

much love,
